Sherlock Holmes movie, steampunk outing opportunity?

Posted by: Professor von Explaino   in Culture

Having watched a number of Sherlock Holmes trailers it’s looking like the current envisioning of the story has quite a few steampunk friendly elements.  As such, ROSEA is making noises to organise a Brisbane Steampunk outing to the Dec 26th opening night of Sherlock Holmes.  I’m also wondering if other groups around the country are looking to brave the stupid-hot summer weather to do something similar.

I plan on seeing this as soon as possible after it comes out but alas we are in transit Boxing Day so will need to wait a day or two after the premiere to see it! I hope you have a wonderful gathering in Brisbane!

Accursed timing! Thank you for the positive thoughts, are you planning on organising anything on the day you can see it?

Stoopid hot summer? Hardly, not where I live. A place not quite antipodean, but mighty fond of Aussies. I recommend the new Sherlock Holmes film for its steampunkish qualities, especially when the infernal death machine makes its appearance.

Lucky person living in an area not currently stored inside a furnace. The infernal death machine was an absolute delight.

The movie was as advertised pleasantly Steam adjacent, with a number of us thrilled with the little Sherlock references through the piece.

I have one photo of our group on a public Facebook page.
